Letting go… moving forward :-)

Hello!!! As most of you know, my guy and I met on Twitter last summer and were fast friends. Tweeting about politics and discovering we had so much more in common too was awesome. He’s always cracked me up with his wit and impressed me with his intelligence. He says the same of me… That friendship caught on fire and here we are now, living together. We both made huge changes in our lives and are building a new life together.  Wow, what a difference a year makes huh???? =) We are excited about the future and are making plans. Life is good!

It’s sometimes a little tricky moving from an “online relationship” to a “real life relationship”….. That is all we knew for so many months. We became dependent on communicating through twitter, facebook, skype, phone, email, etc… that now that we’re together in real life, it’s hard to let go of the online part of the relationship.  At least it has been for me. He’s so happy to have me here that he’s not much into tweeting me etc… instead he’d rather be with me in person..  and for that I’m truly blessed and grateful.  The day he told me his focus changed from me on the internet to me in person, really made me realize that I need to “catch up” to that. Such is what couples go through I guess when they fall in love online then meet in person. It’s surreal and wonderful, let me tell ya!  I’m realizing that in order for us to grow together in real life, I must let go of the online part and the need to “play out” our relationship online or “show off” for lack of a better term. I have him here in person, next to me every night.  How lucky am I that I found my Soul Mate online?? He really is everything I ever wanted in a man. He makes me want to be a better woman.

So, if you notice he and I aren’t on as much or being all mushy as much on twitter/facebook as we used to be, well don’t you worry, LOL, we’re doing that plenty in real life now.  And that really is where I want our focus to be, on our Real Life together.

God Bless us, and God Bless all our Twitter and Facebook Friends!! Thank you for all your support, prayers and friendship!!

Now, back to Obama bashing and Patriot Tweets!! I may have time to Blog! lol Oh and by the way, I know some of you are thinking “oh thank God, I was getting sick of all the kissy smoochy tweets anyway” Well, there may still be some here and there I’m sure, so deal with it! LOL =P

My job interview – and my “DUH!” moment after.. lol

Today I went on a job interview for a Billing Associate position and it went really good! I would love to land this job, because there’s so much about it that I like: the hours, position, job duties, office location, pay, benefits, everything… the lady who interviewed me said that I may hear back today if I get a second interview, yaay!! I passed the Online assessments and feel I did well with the questions, so I’m going to claim my victory and know I’m gonna get that call later :D There aren’t many jobs available here! A huge call center that I could have applied at, closed a while back.  I’m going to apply at a few other places while I wait, but really hoping for this job…

After the interview I hurriedly stopped for gas, and had a DUH! moment…. I had called in a special song request for “I Run To You” by Lady Antebellum as soon as I’d gotten back in my car…. and as luck would have it, they played it the second I pulled up to the pump lol.. so I left the key on and the song full blast :) After pumping the gas, I tried to start my car. Nothing! A nice old man stopped and offered me a jump. Even after he hooked up the jumper cables nothing happened when I turned the key. I was worried.. I had just recenly had the alternator rebuilt and I was starting to get upset that they hadn’t done a good job.. The man worked on the battery connections for several minutes then told me he would try to turn the ignition. When he sat in my car, I heard him start to chuckle… I asked What was so funny.. and he pointed at my gear shifter…  I had left my car in DRIVE when I turned if off.. so of COURSE the ignition wouldn’t turn over!! LOL He put the car in PARK and it started fine.. Boy were my cheeks red, LOL!!!  (Face Palm!) The old man told me he didn’t mind helping and was glad it was something as simple as that.. and he tried real hard not to laugh, bless him LOL!!

Anyway… *GIGGLE* I’m really excited after my interview! Because of support and prayers from my family, friends, all of you Twitter Buds, and especially my BMF @ReconChesty >< I walked in confidence today. I may stumble, I may fall, but my loved ones are here to help me, and I appreciate that!!!  Thanks for your prayers! I know 2010 is going to be a great year for me. I know God’s favor is coming on me in new ways, and that I’m going to come out of this stronger than ever, and happy!  So many changes have been going on in my life, that I don’t wish to detail.. just suffice it to say that I’ve started a brand new chapter and I’m so excited. I’m determined to make my children proud of me, as I learn to be independent again. I hadn’t been on my own in – wow – 17 years.. but I know I can do this because I have the best support system!

Thanks again for your friendship everyone. Means more than you know! I’m going to start blogging again now that things are starting to plane out for me personally. I’ve missed Blogging! Actually, I just thought of a topic for my next blog so stay tuned :)

Hugs~ Debbie

Twitter Safety & DM Alerts, and Password Tips

Twitter
Image via Wikipedia

TWITTER SAFETY & DM ALERTS:

There are many DM’s to watch for. The best rule of thumb is never to click on a link in a DM unless you have verified your friend really sent it. Hackers and phishing scams use DM links to gain access to your Twitter account and send the message on to more victims.  Scroll down to the RED letting for the latest known DM scams to watch for.

Those DM links you’re getting often are  not from your friend, they’re from a hacker who compromised your friend’s twitter account.

Reply to the person or Tweet them and ask them if they sent it.  Chances are they didn’t.  Hackers get access to your Tweeter via those links and the Apps you are connected to.  They are short URLs disguising hacker pages that either immediately steal your info or give you a fake Twitter log in page.

NEVER enter your password after clicking on a link in a DM.  That’s a good clue it’s a Phishing Scam. The hacker/App sends DM’s as you, tricking your followers into clicking and becoming victims as well.

If you’ve been a victim, quickly go to Account > Connections > Revoke all Apps.  Then change your Password.

IF you are locked out of your Twitter account, go to: http://help.twitter.com/forums/10713/entries/31796

If you receive a DM from a victim, let them know they’ve been hacked. Send this Tweet to them: “U hav been hacked. Go 2 Settings>Connections>RevokeAllApps. Then Chg Pwd.”

Do not ever click on links in Direct Messages at Twitter that say things like: “hey there, look”  “is this you?”  “i found y0u”  “lol. look at this funny pic” etc. with a strange “short URL”.

11/15 new Twitter DM to watch for: If you get a DM that says something about Ringtones like “I got some cool ringtones from here” with a link like: http:// ringy4unow . info/ or http:// cellentertainyou . info/ <- Don’t click the links, this is another DM phishing scam that will steal your Twitter password via that link, then send the same (varying) DM to all your followers, who may become victims as well.  See below.

11/9: Twitter DM to watch for! Don’t click DM’s like this: “This has u in it” “This thing has ur pic” (or other text) with a link similar to this:  http:// xsgay .co. uk / 64xxb8 don’t click it!

11/6: If you get a DM that says “LoL. Nice. look“, “OMG.. U Gotta see this!” “Look at this I’m still laughing“or ANY other text with a link like this:  http :// twitter . photoalbum . (xb3hgx) . com/ don’t click it!

What makes a secure password? How secure are your Passwords? Here are a few tips:

1. When choosing a password, always use alpha-numeric passwords, at least like this: haarley38zoo but I suggest you also add a twist – create an alpha-numeric version of a word like: C!ta#t10n or R@v10Li -that will help you remember them. Never choose a word from the dictionary because hacking programs pick those up first. Using an alpha-numeric password will increase your security greatly.

2. Never use the same password on multiple sites, and obviously never use the word password for your password, or something that is public information like your dog’s name.  It’s OK to use one of those “password saver” programs, but those are only good on that PC, so if it crashes, you’ll be stuck. I wouldn’t trust them, instead trust yourself to keep track of them, and keep the notebook safely hidden.

3. Don’t put your actual zip code in online registration forms, instead put a nearby one, or the zip code to your favorite city. Keep as much information about yourself as you can on a ‘need to know’ basis. The public doesn’t need to know if you’re a single gal living on 3rd Street, work at Applebee’s, and walk home alone at night. Nope, don’t publish private details of your life you wouldn’t want a peeping tom to read. Your zip code is information needed to reset your password on alot of websites, so try not to share that information publicly and try not to use your correct zip code in forms – this simply adds another layer of protection from hackers.

4. When typing your answer to a ’secret question’ never actually answer the question.  Put something totally unrelated as the answer. Example: If the question is “Who was your childhood sweetheart?” your answer should be unrelated like: “Maybelline”. This helps prevent anyone from guessing your answers and info and gaining access to your accounts. Be sure to write your secret question and answers down, as shown in #5.

5. Keep a notebook w/ all your answers, passwords and info in them.  When you change/update the records online, draw a line thru the old and add the new.  It is very simple. This has worked for me for 11 years now.

6. Never ever store your passwords on your computer in a file, or even near your computer.  You’d never find mine ;-) Something I also do often: whenever I fill out a form to join a site or sign up for something, right before I click that Submit button, I print the page, then fill in the password part, and staple it into my notebook.

I hope this helps you create a safe secure password and keep your accounts safe.  Please send this to a friend, and remember to change your passwords regularly :)

Any questions??

If you have any tips for creating a secure password, please add it in a Comment, thanks!

TCOT Backups

Attention TCOT Tweeters!

Add your Twitter names and URL’s and whatever other information you want to save for posterity here, such as favorite people you wouldn’t want to lose if your account gets hacked, your blog or website links, etc.  Obviously, don’t post your passwords (doh!) This page can be a reference point as well for others looking for great people to follow too!

In the event that you are hacked or locked out of your Twitter account, you can come here to let everyone know what’s going on and how to reach you (your new Twitter name etc) myself and others will also pass along your new information via Tweets and RT’s to help you rebuild your followers.

(What is TCOT?  — It stands for “Top Conservatives On Twitter”  This backup list is for people use who hashtags at the end of their tweets like #tcot #tlot #iamthemob #gop #donttreadonme #faith #libertarian #glennbeck etc… – and all conservatives on Twitter. Add yourself today!)

I highly recommend that you change your Twitter passwords regularly, never log in to a page after clicking on a link in a tweet/DM (phishing scam) and never use the same password on your other Twitter accounts or Email accounts.  I have a detailed blog here about Password Safety.

In addition, I’m working on adding a Message Board here for us to use when Twitter is down =)

Unable to log into Twitter?

I checked their Status page http://status.twitter.com and it’s green, so I’m not sure why it’s not loading for me.   It’s gotta be “down” because even http://search.twitter.com isn’t working and neither is TweetDeck.

Update Sun 10:30 am Now the status page says “We are currently investigating a problem whereby some Twitter clients in widely scattered network locations are unable to connect to twitter.com.”

Update 12:30 pm Twitter server in my area still down. Only able to access and sign into twitter via: http://www.proxytwitter.com

So just some of us can’t access Twitter. Great…

I’m considering putting up a Message Board here for when Twitter has the HiCcUpS…  what do you think?

Password & Twitter Safety & Security

What makes a secure, hacker proof password? How secure are your Passwords? Here are a few tips: (Twitter info below)

1. When choosing a password, always use alpha-numeric passwords, at least like this: haarley38zoo but I suggest you also add a twist – create an alpha-numeric version of a word like: C!ta#t10n or R@v10Li -that will help you remember them. 4. When typing your answer to a ‘secret question’ never actually answer the question.

I hope this helps you create a safe secure password.  Please send this to a friend, and remember to change your passwords regularly :)

LASTLY: None of the above tips will help if you don’t remember this:

Do not ever click on links in DM’s at Twitter that say things like: “hey there, look”  “is this you?”  “i found y0u”  “lol. look at this funny pic” etc. with a strange “short URL”.  Those are  not from your friend, they’re from the hacker who compromised your friend’s twitter account.

If you’ve been a victim, quickly go to Account > Connections > Revoke all Apps.  Then change your Password.

The hacker/App sends those messages as you, tricking your followers into clicking and becoming victims as well.

If you receive a DM from a victim, let them know they’ve been hacked. Send this Tweet to them: “U hav been hacked. Go 2 Settings>Connections>RevokeAllApps. Then Chg Pwd.”

Any questions??

If you have any tips for creating a secure password, please add it in a Comment, thanks!
