Country Livin’

Look what just went by my house….

horsesgoby

I was almost too late to get a pic.

Country livin’s pretty cool :P

I need to go for a drive sometime and take some pics around “town” and share them.  This town looks like those quaint little towns you see in movies where there’s the obligatory diner but not alot more, -we don’t even have one traffic light lol – but the nicest people you could ever know.  Everyone knows everyone.  That’s usually a good thing, ha! This is where I was raised, and I’m so glad my family lives here (being so close my parents is a definite plus too!) We just got this house (a bit of a fixer-upper but large & comfy) and an Acre of land. That’s plenty, takes two days to mow but my dogs and kids love it :P

At night, you can see all the stars.  It’s beautiful, like diamonds on black velvet.  The air is crisp and clean and most everyone has horses  (we plan to get a horse this spring, and some chickens too ha!)

Neighbors actually talk to each other and look out for strangers lurking around.  People in the country put city ‘citizen watch’ groups to shame.  We know when someone doesn’t belong out here, and we don’t hesitate to display our guns and call the cops.  Us “country folk” don’t encounter too many criminals, they’re scared of US, teehee!

So there’s a little about me and my life. I’m a country girl and I love my country =)

This is home :)

I’m curious: Do you live in a Small Town or a Big City?

Handouts! Handouts! Get your Government Handouts!

Here are just some of the FREE things that Welfare Recipients receive (while every tax paying worker in America pays for them):

1. Free cash
They get a check every month which they can cash and use however they want. There are no rules as to what they can buy or specific purpose for the money.  Not only that, but depending on where you live, you might see things like *this* (free cash at ATM’s).

2. Free groceries
Food stamps are now given in the form of a credit card so it doesn’t “embarrass” them, and is automatically filled up on the 1st of every month.

3. Free rent
HUD and other programs will pay 100% of their rent in the form of vouchers.  They never have to think about it or worry – their rent is paid every month automatically! And, the more kids they have, the bigger their house can be. Those with 2 or more kids of both genders (a boy & a girl for example) would be able to get a larger free house, because their rules state that different gendered kids can’t share a room.

4. Free Daycare
The Department of Health and Human Services pays for their childcare for job hunting and work 100% every month. They swipe a card and it’s paid. A welfare mom can put her child(ren) in daycare for free 8 hours a day, to ‘job hunt’, so long as she puts in one application per day. Does it take 8 hours to put in one application? Heck no. Do you know how much money we’d save if they stopped just that one stupid policy? Welfare moms typically have welfare friends, can’t they just switch off watching each others’ kids like the rest of us?

5. Free medical, dental and vision
No paid insurance plan matches this one. They don’t have co-pays, deductibles or any out of pocket expenses for going to the family doctor, dentist or eye doctor.

6. Free Home phone
Many programs like Life Tel give free phone service each month. It might cost them a whole $1 a month but that gets them all the features you could possibly get in addition to free long distance. PLUS FREE INTERNET! Watch this:

7. Free Cell phone and Service
There is a program that provides free cell phones and free service every month.  Click *here* to see how cheery they make being on welfare sound, how normal and exclusive, like you’re “in the club”, sigh! Check out their warm and fuzzy commercial:

8. Free Utilities
In case the cash isn’t enough, welfare recipients can go to their local DHS office and ask them to pay any of their utilities at any time and they will pay the utility company directly.

9. Free clothes and household goods
Every city has a place, often called a Clothes Closet, where welfare recipients can come get new and used clothes, coats, car seats, dishes, and even more food in case the food stamps aren’t enough.

10. Free car
Yes, I said a FREE CAR. There is a program where welfare recipients can go get a free car to use for job hunting and transportation for work.  These free cars come with Free Insurance, Free AAA, Free Repairs and more. If they don’t keep their job, that’s ok. They can still keep the car! -No joke. Read about it *here*.

Wow, sounds like a good deal huh? Why WOULD they want to go back to work???  They are living better than alot of us!

Clinton put a 5 Year welfare Limit in place. He put caps on benefits too.  Did you know that Obama recently did away with that? Now there is NO limit now to how long a person can be on welfare, and no cap on how much they can get!

Don’t get me wrong. I’m not against people getting help when they need it. I got food stamps and WIC (Women, Infants, Children program which gives moms free milk, formula etc.) when my first child was an infant right after I had left his abusive father.  I needed help and I’m glad it’s there for people who need help for a short amount of time.  Luckily I soon met my husband and refused any further handouts.

I think it’s a good thing if its temporary and specific. It’s supposed to be a help up, not a hand out.  I don’t agree with giving them cash and I certainly don’t agree that a cell phone or car is something any tax payer should have to provide. That is just crazy.

Lastly, I remember back in the 90′s, CLINTON tried to pass a tax break for Stay at Home Moms, but it was defeated, I don’t remember by which party.  It was some kind of special tax that was designed to help families who had a stay at home parent.  That got shot down, but all of the above are okay? *Rolls Eyes*

I realize ‘Obama’ didn’t put into place all of the above. Previous administrations did.  He DID however, rescind the Welfare Limits and Caps. Wonder why he did that? To help further his “trickle up” economy baloney, that’s why.

I don’t care which “party” started it, it’s still not right to give all of the above freebies to people who refuse to work, while the rest of us who do work, pay for it.

I get so angry every time this happens to me:

I’m in line at the store, coupons in hand, having stuck to my carefully planned menu and list closely, worrying if I’m going to have to put anything back if I go over. You know the feeling. The lady in front of me has 4 kids and two carts – one filled with her food stamp items, the other filled with junk food, candy and beer she uses her free cash to pay for. Her “man” slips in another 12 pack of beer. The 9 month old baby in the cart is filthy and has a sucker in her mouth. Alternate scene: the 9 month old baby in the cart is filthy and screaming for more candy.  She finally leaves and I pay for my groceries, digging to the bottom of my purse for change so I don’t have to break another twenty (once you break em, they sure go quick, right?) So I finish up (Whew! didn’t have to put anything back!) and head towards my car with my one cart of groceries I hope will last two weeks…  I pass the food stamp lady, who’s having her 4 kids load all that stuff into her brand new Mercedes.  I sigh as I load my groceries into my old Saturn.  It just never seems fair does it?  How many times have you experienced this?

We need welfare reform before we need health care reform. In fact, we need insurance and tort reform, along with cracking down on welfare and medicare fraud.  We’d all be rolling in piles of cash if they’d fix those problems!

There are some who feel that welfare recipients use their money for drugs and feel they should be regularly tested for drugs. Perhaps some of them do. I’m sure some of them do.  Welfare recipients should agree to random drug testing. Working people are randomly checked at most jobs and we don’t have a choice, what’s the big deal?

I am very surprised by the epiphany I’ve had lately: the more I know, the less I like Bush (gasp!) the more I respect Clinton (gulp!) the more I like Ron Paul (wow) and the more I cannot stand Obama!!! (ok not surprised by that last one Ha!)

I’m pretty peeved about this, but I’ve tried to state my opinions in a nice way at least, right? These people however, aren’t holding back, LOL (language warning)

Your thoughts???

Just call him Senator DICK. Here’s why:

Modern pawnbroker storefront.

Image via Wikipedia

Senator Dick Durbin thinks its OK to burn the US Flag. He also supports the “Fairness Doctrine“, and Obama-Care. He  is pro-abortion and is close buds with Obama and Pelosi.

All are good enough reasons not to like the guy if you’re a Conservative like me, but there’s something else: A little known bill he Sponsored, named Senate Bill 500. (check out the co-sponsors)

Senate Bill 500 is written to appear quite harmless and in fact helpful. Even the name sounds good “Protecting Consumers from Unreasonable Credit Rates Act of 2009″. (kinda reminds you of the 2009 health care bill doesn’t it?) It says it’s to “protect” consumers by placing a maximum annual interest rate of 36% for all short term credit transactions. It’s pushed as a way to “end predatory lending”. Sounds like a great bill right?

In truth, this bill would force all small and short term loan places to close. This would include all lenders offering class B and C loans. Who would be affected?  All of the following would be forced to close their businesses:

  • “Pay Day” loan companies
  • Small Loan companies (they are diff from payday loan co’s)
  • Pawn Shops
  • Buy Here Pay Here Auto Dealers

This would eliminate a lot of businesses and almost all options for short term credit.  If you needed money, you would only have Credit Unions and Banks to turn to for a loan, and New Auto Dealers to buy a car/truck from.  Even if you’re a democrat -ha..

This would obviously be very harmful to many Americans who often need access to small loans to make ends meet, pay for emergency repairs and other expenses that come up between pay days.  You’d have to have perfect credit to get a loan or buy a car.  Not to even mention the MILLIONS OF JOBS LOST by all those businesses being forced to close.

Now, a democrat might counter that with “They won’t be forced to close, they’ll just be limited to a 36% interest rate.” True, and I even slightly agree that true “pay day” loan companies are a bit vulturous in their “annual” interest rates.  But, instead of just targeting the pay day loans, they are using those “pay day loans” as a bad example in their “advertising” of the Bill, and lumping Small Loans, Pawn Shops and Used Car Dealers in with them. It’s just not accurate and it’s just not right.  It’s a scam.

It’s exactly like their claim that under the “public option” plan you can keep your doctor and your health plan if you like them. We all know that’s a cleverly disguised lie, just like Obama saying the plan wouldn’t cover illegals in one speech, then days later saying he wants to make illegals legal so they can get the coverage.  It reminds me of when Bill Clinton said “Well that depends on what your definition of the word is is.”  They are master liars and manipulators.  Okay, back to the topic at hand….

What they are not telling you is that pay day loan companies and small loan companies don’t have customers who stay on the books on an “annual” basis.  They are required to post their “annual” interest rate percentages, but the term of the loan is much shorter, as little as two weeks and as long as 6 months.

Pay day and Small loan companies usually don’t go further in the future than that with each customer anyway, and pay day loan companies usually just hold a check for 2 to 4 weeks then cash it.  It’s just a short term loan, which millions of Americans choose to get every day.  The writers and Sponsors of the Bill used the ANNUAL numbers, which is misleading and just bad math.

Pawn Shops are used by millions of Americans every day for selling, pawning and buying of merchandise.  One year we bought some of our kids Christmas gifts at a pawn shop after a brilliant idea to buy all 3 of them their own 32″ TV, PlayStation 2 and accessories.  We didn’t have the money to buy new that year, but I always find a way to make sure we have a nice Christmas.  I was able to get all of that for under $300 at our local pawn shop.  I shined them up, put bows on them and lined them up in front of the tree. The kids were thrilled and didn’t care a bit that those items weren’t brand new. I doubt they even noticed.  Doing that enabled us to buy them other things new that they wanted.  Those TV’s and PlayStations, all great quality, are still being used years later.  This very second actually: I can hear my boys both playing Socom 3, their favorite online game.  I’ve also been a customer of a pawn shop too.  Despite the myth that Republicans are rich, I’m not.  Puhlease! LOL Most Americans have pawned things on occasion, I’ve been there. Alot of people depend on pawn shops for emergency cash to help them between pay days often.  A friend once pawned her old wedding rings for 4 weeks to pay for an attorney to go after her ex for child support. She said it was worth every penny of interest to get that judgment and enforcement. She said she wouldn’t have been able to get the money any other way, and it helped her gain that monthly child support money she needed. Millions have similar stories like mine and my friend.

Used car dealers are usually the only option for people with poor credit. They need a car to get to work too, but they cannot qualify at a new dealership. They’d be forced to buy from an individual (til the Govt makes that illegal) . I also suspect “car loan sharks” would become a problem as shady people figure out ways to take advantage of those who need cars but can’t buy new because of their credit.

If this bill passes, all those places would have to shut down because they would make no money from their customers at all.  For example, using the calculations in the Bill, a Small Loan company would make on average $8.00 from a $200.00 loan if they were capped at 36% interest for 6 months of payments.  They couldn’t pay their expenses and employees and would be forced to close.

Senator DICK knows this too.  He just chose to use bad math.  I’m not a mathematician and even I figured that out in my head LOL

What if you already have a small loan, pay day loan or contract with a buy here pay here car dealer?  My sources have told me that the loans would probably all be converted to income when the business closes, which would mean you would now owe taxes on that income.

Don’t forget: the Government is already taking over banks and car companies.

Add that to Senator Dick’s recent comment that Banks own Congress and… who owns the banks again? The Government. This Bill would eliminate the competition of the Government (who owns the banks and car companies (and thus the dealerships).  How convenient!

There are many websites exposing more about this SCAM Bill being pushed by the Democrats. You should pay attention to this bill and write your Congressmen about it.   Other ways to help:

Tree house adventures

My boys (ages 11, 17) have been working on their tree house at our new house in the country :) It’s really peaceful out here, plus I’m 5 minutes from my parents.  The kids are really enjoying it here too. What I like best: when I go outside at night, I can see all the stars, it’s beautiful. There are no fast food places or malls or movie theaters out here, which is a good thing! (saves money) lol
